Bayern Munich midfielder Javier Martinez have agreed a personal term with Athletic Bilbao over a return to Spain, according to Marca.

The only thing remaining is for the two club to agree on a fee for the Spaniard as Bayern Munich are holding out a fee of €12 million while Athletic are hoping to push the price down to under €10 million.

Javi has just one year remaining on his contract with the Bavarians.

Martinez spent most of the time last season coming on from the bench after he lost his place to Leon Goretzka. In any case, Bayern will do what they can to find a solution that suits Martinez, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

Rummenigge told AZ in Ausburg “We know that he would like to leave the club if a suitable offer comes in for him,”

“We don’t want to put any obstacles in his way, because he has always been a good player and a reliable, serious person.”

Javi joined Bayern Munich for €40 million from Athletic Bilbao in 2013, he was an integral player in Bayern team that won the treble (Bundesliga title, DFB-pokal and also the Champions League) in 2013 under Jupp Henyckes.

The 32-year-old Spanish midfielder made 238 appearances for the Bavarians scoring 13 goals and 9 assists.
