Alphonso Davies had a breakthrough last season with Bayern Munich, he became the Bavarians number one left back last season ahead of Lucas Hernandez.
Currently, the 19-year-old Canadian international have spent two Bundesliga matches on the bench as Lucas Hernandez start ahead of the flying left back.
The head coach of the Bavarians Hansi Flick spoke to the media after his team went away on Saturday to defeat the newly promoted side Arminia Bielefeld 4-1.
The 56-year-old said “Lucas Hernandez has put in very stable performances and is playing at a very good level. He does us good with his aggressiveness,”
“For a young player like Alphonso Davies, it’s not easy due to the many games last season and the short pre-season. It’s important that he gets back on track and can bring his strengths back into play. But to do so, he needs a certain fitness and mental freshness.”
The Bavarians next game will be against Spanish side Athletico Madrid at the Champions League on Wednesday night.
